What are the basic principles of sound insulation? How should it be built, what are the right approaches and materials? Answers to these questions and many others, related to the sound insulation were given by the professionals from the Bulgarian Association for Insulation in construction on the 25 February at their workshop within the Architecture and Construction Week 2020.
The regulatory frameworks have been addressed in detail. The specialists from the branch organization examined the principles of amplitude, frequency and length of the sound wave as well as the types of noise - air and impact (structural).
The visitors realized that if only the ceiling and walls of the room were insulated, this would reduce the noise level by just up to 30%. With an already constructed building, the best solution is the construction of "a room in the room". For the best effect, the sound insulation should not touch the foundation.
Certainly, the best option to eliminate the issue with the noise in the building is at the time of its construction. Therefore, the experts’ advice is to lay such insulation under the surface. The specialists also examined in detail the qualities of the various materials for noise isolation, including polyethylene, cork and rubber pads as well as cork wadding.
